1. Let you children know they can talk to you about anything.
Let them know they can ask for help or advice anytime they need, make them feel you're their friend and create trust, not just mom.
2. Learn to LISTEN
Learn to be a good listener even if it is not important for you, because it is very important for them that is why they will want to talk to you.
3. Give your full attention when they need it.
When your child wants to talk, you should stop everything, listen and pay full attention to them. They might have something important to discuss with you. Most of the time our kids are looking for your opinion or advice from you.
4. Speak honestly, fully support any decision you make.
Nowadays, kids are so much different than our generation. They are more aware of learning different things from others. We are their role models. We should speak honestly and support when they have made their decision in a good way.
5. Be friendly
Kids start to respect you when you are friendly with them. They are more aware of why they do this and why they do that. If you give them the answer that they think is a reasonable you're the winner. At the same time, being friendly with their friends also will make them happy and show more respect to you.
6. Show affection at appropriate time
Giving them some privacy is a must when they are older. They start to think differently and we as moms start to see the change of them. It also will let us learn the different stages of their growth and ours as well. It's a matter of learning from each other.
7. Show interest on their activities
This is a big thing and shows them you care about them. Every kid's different. They have their own interest in the activities that they will love. Once they find what they like, you will see they learn so fast and when you are doing it together. They will be very happy to do it and proud of it. They also will make you proud.
8. Be respectful with their preferences
Respect for each other is very important, especially when they are in their teenage stage. Respect what they prefer. It's like when we are teens, we want our parents to respect our privacy, preference on the outfit, hair style, even what color for our room.
